Baking Soda Cleaning Hacks

Baking soda is a well-known ingredient used for baking. It acts as a rapid leavening agent for cakes, cookies, and quick breads. Besides baking, baking soda has many household uses.

Kitchen Grease Cleaner: Baking soda + Dish soap + Warm water (Ratio – 2:1:2)

Procedure

  1. Mix baking soda, dish soap and warm water in a 2:1:2 ratio until a thick paste forms.
  2. Apply the paste thickly to greasy areas on the stove and leave it for 10 minutes.
  3. Gently wipe clean with a scouring pad.

Tips: For stubborn grease stains, leave the mixture on for an additional 5 minutes.

Blocked, Unpleasant Odors Drain: Baking soda + White vinegar (Ratio – 1:1)

Procedure

  1. Remove the drain plug and scoop out the hair and debris from the sink.
  2. Pour the baking soda first, followed by the white vinegar and wait for the bubbling reaction.
  3. Allow the reaction to proceed for 15 minutes.
  4. Pour a kettle of boiling water into the drain.

 

Water Stains Remover: Baking soda + Hot water (Ratio 1:3)

Procedure

  1. Pour the baking soda and hot water into a spray bottle and shake to mix it.
  2. Spray the mixture onto the surface with water stains, such as water tap.
  3. Wipe with a cloth.

 

 Wash Towel: Baking soda + Salt + Hot water

Procedure

  1. Pour hot water with 2 tablespoons salt and 1 tablespoon baking soda, then soak for 30 minutes.
  2. After soaking, wring the towel out before washing.
  3. The towel will become white, soft and odor-free.

 

Pesticide Remover: Baking soda + Water

Procedure

  1. Place the fruit in a bowl and fill it with water.
  2. Add one tablespoon of baking soda
  3. Soak the fruit for 5 minutes.
  4. Rinse and enjoy!

 

Microwave Oven Cleaner: Baking soda + Water

Procedure

  1. Pour some baking soda into a small bowl and dissolve it in water.
  2. Place the bowl in the microwave oven and heat for 5 minutes.Wipe the interior part 
  3. with a wet cloth. (Take care to avoid scalding)

 

Fridge Odor Neutralizer

Procedure

  1. Place the baking soda into a muslin bag and put it in the fridge.
  2. Replace it with a new one monthly to let it absorb moisture and odors.
